So, oft in theologic wars, the disputants, I ween,
tread on in utter ignorance, of what each other mean,
and prate about the elephant, not one of them has seen!

Hello friends! I’m so glad that we get to be together again and so soon! Did you enjoy playing around with colors last time? It was a busy time with it being Halloween and all. To get out creative juices going, try one of the following activities. Some of these can be a little messy, so be sure that what you choose is ALSO okay with your mom.

Option 1: Have your mom or older sibling help with this one. Get out a piece of white paper. Put on a paint apron. Get out some red paint, yellow paint and some blue paint. Have your mom or sibling paint the palm of your right hand yellow. Now have them paint your left palm blue. Now, carefully rub your two palms together and see what happens! Carefully put your handprints on your piece of paper and then go wash off your hands. NOW, have your mom or older sibling paint your right palm red and your left palm yellow. Rub your palms together and place your hands on your paper again (somewhere new this time). What color did it make this go around! It’s so fun to see how different colors is made huh?! When your paper dries, write your name on it along with your age and ask your mom if you can mail it to your grandma or favorite cousin! Here’s a video to help you catch a vision of what this looks like.

Option 2: Grab a piece of white paper and water color paints and see if you can draw something that has every color of the rainbow in it BESIDES drawing a rainbow! When it’s completed, allow it to dry completely and then mail it to your favorite cousin, wishing them a happy fall!

Option 3: Find a piece of paper and some colored pencils or crayons and have some fun drawing this thanksgiving picture. When you are done, see if your mom will help you mail it to a relative that you think may smile when they get this is the mail!

This next week we are going to do some fun things with music. Have you ever noticed how many times in a week, you hear music? In my home, you will find that there is a LOT of music going on! I like to sing. I almost ALWAYS have music on in the back ground while I cook. Brytt likes to play a game called Reading Eggs on his iPad and THAT has music. We have a piano at my home and there are many people in my home that play! We also like to watch a movie on Friday night. And guess what, MOST movies have music in the back ground. When movies first came out, they were SILENT movies. No sound at all. As technology expanded, music became a BIG part of movies! Music changes the way we feel. It can help us feel happy. It can help us feel scared. Music is a BIG part of our lives. Just for fun, watch this movie two times. The first time, watch it with the sound OFF! The second time, turn the music ON! Did it change the experience of the movie?

God really IS good to us, isn’t he! Have you ever noticed just how many SOUNDS there are around you? And not just sounds but colors too! Can you image having NO sound, and NO color! Color brings me JOY! Did you know that when you were little, you couldn’t see color? Babies can only see in black and white. As they grow and their eyes mature, they can begin to see color. Here’s a little video that helps you understand how the eyes see color a little better.

Heavenly Father is really a fabulous father! He created the body with so much potential for joy! And it’s not just what we hear or see. We also taste, smell and feel!

Because Thanksgiving is coming up, I thought it may be fun to do one last little activity. Can you go for a walk. It can be in your home or outside of your home. Can you look at everything around you with color. And say, “thanks Heavenly Father for all of the fun colors that surround me!” And then, can you go around and see how many things make SOUNDS around you? It could be the crunch of the leaves (that’s one of my favorites) or the sound of birds, dogs, other animals or the silence of snow falling, or the snow crunching under your feet! Can you go listen or create some of these sounds, and then THROW your arms up and out and SHOUT into the sky, “THANK YOU HEAVENLY FATHER FOR OUR SOUNDS!” After that, ask your mom for a snack. As you eat, can you pause to let the food sit in your mouth for a while and JUST ENJOY THE TASTE! And then, you guessed it, tell Heavenly Father a BIG thanks as you bless your food! Then finally last of all, take OFF your shoes and socks. Then go RUN OUTSIDE! Feel the cold on your feet and then RACE back inside and wrap yourself in a warm blanket. Ahhhh! How grateful are we for the chill of the air and for the warmth of soft things around us.

As you go to bed, take the time to thank Heavenly Father for all of the FUN, amazing things that he put RIGHT AROUND YOU! After all, this is the season to be grateful. And we have A LOT of fun things to be grateful for!
