Know:
Do all of the following:
- Read the book “Left to Tell” by Immaculee Ilibagiza
Understand:
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.” The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
None of us will ever have to endure the death and carnage brought about by evil men that Immaculee and others like her endured during the Rwandan Genocide. She chose which “wolf” she would feed. She choose good and kept that always in the forefront of her mind by praying both night and day and trusting God at every turn. We have the same choice every day in our lives – the choice between good and evil. The one that wins in our life is the one we feed. How can you continually feed the good “wolf” so that you can stay in a place of peace, joy and love no matter what life throws at you?
