Imaginative Arts Apprentice March 28, 2024 – AFRICA

lucky you: I made you a checklist for this week!! HERE IT IS. ~Traci

  1. Watch this VIDEO overview about AFRICA. (3 minutes)
  2. What is considered AFRICA?
    • AFRICA, the second-largest continent, is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Atlantic Ocean. It is divided in half almost equally by the Equator. The continent includes the islands of Cape Verde, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, and Comoros.
    • Use THIS LINK to see a list of all the countries in AFRICA, this will help you when you’re thinking about your continent project. The link is also a helpful overview of the area.

CONTINENT PROJECT:

Think about what you would like to learn more about in AFRICA. Spend about an 1 to 90 minutes (this is shorter than usual because you need to spend A LOT of time on your Passion Project for the World’s Fair, details in PART TWO) learning about a creation that interests youeither a creation of God’s or something made by man.

  • a collage,
  • it can be text boxes,
  • it can be a digital poster or
  • in a retro scrapbook style,
  • but it needs to be interesting and it needs to be about 12″ x 18″, but the size is not set in stone.
  • (And it needs to be your own work!!!!!!)

We will be creating an poster gallery with all the posters and you will be voting for you favorite(s). . . (voting may equal prizes!)

You still need to claim a topic HERE.

SAMPLE POSTERS:

remember these are samples, your poster should be WAY better than these!!!! Wow us!

In class we will be having some special guests who will be sharing their challenging, creative and captivating experiences in AFRICA.

PART TWO: WORLD’S FAIR

It is time to start preparing for our WORLD’S FAIR.

This week:

  1. Continue working on your Passion Project. Report your progress HERE.
  2. Write a one page paper about your project. (Use the tools you learned in Jen’s writing classes.)
  3. Create a rough draft of your trifold board.

On your rough draft of your trifold board you will need to show:

  • The title of your project (could be the title of your paper.)
  • Space for Photos, illustrations or graphics
  • Descriptions to explain any graphics or ideas, (Use your one page paper to create the content you need for your trifold board.)

This is a sample rough draft of a tri-fold board. I want to see something like this in class. . .nay, I want to see something so much better than this in class.

I bet after seeing this sample you are SO EXCITED TO MAKE YOUR OWN!! YAY!!!!!!

This is another very rough, but useful template idea for a rough draft.

Make your rough drafts CLEAN AND TIDY, please no scribble marks like you may see in this random photo. . . AMAZE ME! (who drew that anyway?)

Bring your rough draft to class.

Okay little birds, you can do this, now fly! Be free!
