Each country on earth has it’s own culture, history, animal life and story.
Learn a little bit about the country of Belize by reading this article. (Here is a version for younger juniors.) Be sure to notice the map and be able to find Belize on a globe.
Select a topic from this document to learn about and prepare a short presentation to share in class. Why did you pick the topic you did? (There are blank lines to add a topic if there is a something else you would like to explore.)
Book Club
Continue reading Ernest Shackleton: Going South. Book party will be next week! What are you learning from Ernest Shackleton’s life? What does it mean to endure? What things in your life require endurance? How can you prepare now for challenges to come?
Next month’s book is the Children of Noisy Village. Ask you mom if you have that book and get started as soon as you finish learning about the Endurance.
Poetry
Let’s learn a poem together! Each week for the next three weeks, I will post a new stanza to learn. If you write it on a paper and put it where you will see it frequently (on a fridge, a mirror, etc) and say it aloud 3 times a day, you will be surprised how easily you can memorize! We’ll start with a joke, of sorts. Here is the first stanza:
Methuselah ate what he found on his plate
And never, as people do now,
Did he note the amount of the calorie count
He ate it because it was chow.
