The Ingenious Little Old Man

A little old man of the sea
Went out in a boat for a sail:
The water came in
Almost up to his chin
And he had nothing with which to bail.

But this little old man of the sea
Just drew out his jack-knife so stout,
And a hole with his blade
In the bottom he made,
So that all of the water ran out.

Economics

This year we are going to explore some of the basic concepts of Economics! What is economics? I’m so glad you asked! Simply put, economics is the study of choices and how they are made. The more you understand, the better the decisions you will be able to make. Ready? Let’s jump in!

On the back of your worksheet, brainstorm with your family. What are some of your needs? What are some of your wants? Make a list of 5-10 of each.

Read the Tuttle Twins Learn About the Law. Come to class prepared to discuss what they learned.

Do you know anyone who owns his own business? For a future class, you will be asked to interview a business owner (preferably not one of your parents). Be thinking of who you might want to consider for this. If you don’t know someone, think of a favorite business. Perhaps you can reach out and see if that owner would be willing to answer a few questions. For right now, maybe start making a list of possibilities.
