Journeyman Week 6

It’s our last week together, can you believe it!

This last chapter of the book, chapter 15, discusses some amazing principles and beliefs we can consider to help us extend life and lead more fulfilling lives using the power of the ultimate self-image you will learn about in this chapter. Come prepared this week to class having read chapter 15 so all of us can have a beneficial conversation that can positively impact each of our lives.

  1. I want to emphasize the best self-image of all that the author teaches by first pointing your attention to page 285. He says….The most adequate and realistic self-image of all is to conceive of yourself as “made in ________________________.” You cannot believe yourself the image of _____, deeply and sincerely, with full conviction, and not receive a new source of _________ and ______________, said Dr. Frank G. Slaughter.
  2. After reading chapter 15 write down your thoughts about the subject of “aging”. How might you think about aging differently so you can live a longer, healthier life? What must you do suggests the author? How is it possible someone might think themselves into an older age than they really are? What are your thoughts about why that is?
  3. What is the type of energy the author uses to describe the energy that heals a wound, keeps our other body organs functioning? Hint: look on page 272
    • Write down in your journal what spiritual perspective you might have about this. How could it be possible your spirit helps heal you?
  4. One page 274 the author quotes from Dr. Save Woynarowski and discusses his perspectives on the fountain of youth. What does he discuss about increasing the telomere length? This is a geeky question, I know, but bare with me. Learn a new word called “telomere” by watching this video. Then write down in your journal what you can do in your life to extend the length of your own telomeres in your body?
  1. On page 277 fill in the blanks:
    • In expecting to grow “old” at a given age we may unconsciously set up a ______________ goal image for our Creative Mechanism to accomplish. Or, in expecting “old age” and fearing its onset, we may unwittingly do those very things necessary to bring it about…….Lack of _______________ causes our __________________ to constrict and virtually disappear, and the supply of life-giving blood through our tissues is drastically curtailed _______________ exercise is __________________ to dilate the capillaries that feed all body ________________ and remove ____________ products.
    • Write down what happened to the cultured animal cells experiment and how exactly did the cells remain “eternally young” and didn’t age, didn’t die?
  2. What are the 7 basic needs for every human being discussed on pages 278 and 279?
    • Write down in your journal at least one unique example in your life that connects to each of those 7 human needs? For example, what do you do in your life to satisfy your need for love? for security? and so forth?
    • Why do you think the 7th human need is so important to you? Give the class some examples when we meet.
  3. Study the famous creators discussed on page 280 and write down what type of mindset should you develop to have the ability and energy they had to continue to create long into their life?
    • Write down your perspective on “aging”. What does aging really mean to you now that you’ve read this chapter? Did your perspective, therefore your belief, about aging change at all? If so write down what you previously thought and compare it to your new belief. How does your new belief about aging change the way you behave now, moving forward?
  4. The author teaches on page 280 that …”I tell my patients to “develop a _______________ for the _______________” instead of for the ______ if they want to remain ____________ and ___________. Develop an _______________ for ________, create a need for more ________, and you will receive more _____.
    • What are your thoughts about how much control you personally have over extending your life?
    • Write down your thoughts in your journal about what you would do with your life is you could extend your life far past 100 years on this planet?
  5. On page 281 explain why so many men and women’s health deteriorates so quickly after they retire? What should you do and therefore envision in your own mind about your own future retirement? What perspective is best to believe if you want to create a longer life for yourself? What does “use it or lose it” mean to you and how does that believe relate to developing a longer, healthier life for yourself?
  6. Challenge action step: invite someone in your life who thinks they are “old” (grandpa/ma, parent, close friend) and see if they are open to a discussion with you about aging. Talk with them about their thoughts/beliefs about learning and doing something new like lifting weights, learning a new skill etc at the age they are. Ask them what they currently do to stay active, keep their mind sharp? Discuss their perspective about growing old and compare that to what you’ve been learning in this chapter. How might your efforts of doing this challenge help you and your loved one enjoy more life and feel more appreciated?
  7. In this step I want to challenge you to first watch the video below and then write at least 1 to 3 letters to your future self at different ages. Learn about the benefits here.

You can write these future letters to your future self in your journal and/or visit this site here to use their website to email your letters to the system which will email them back to you at that future date so you can read them and see how accurate or different you are compared to what you wrote in the past.

    Watch this video:

Write a personal letter to your future self at 5 years from now, 20 years from now and then at 50 years from now. Tell him/her (YOU) what you hope you are doing and capable of at that point in the future?

More Idea/Questions Prompts:
– Write down answers to the 7 basic human needs for yourself at those future milestones.
– What does life look like?
– How do you feel or want/hope to feel?
– What accomplishments do you hope to have achieved?
– What do you physically look like at each point of those ages?
– What inventions in the world have changed your life?
